"Hope is that thing inside of us that insists, despite all the evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us if we have the courage to reach for it, to work for it and to fight for it. Hope is the bedrock of this nation; the belief that our destiny will not be written for us, but by us - by all those that are not content to settle for the world as it is and who have the courage to remake the world as it should be." - President Obama
I am a mixed bundle of emotions right now. Being part of this elections with PE WP candidate has been an eye-opener and the experience has caught me by surprise. It's bittersweet, sometimes more bitter than sweet. So, this is how it feels to be part of a minority, openly. This is how it feels to be bullied and treated unfairly. This is how it feels like to be exploited. This is how it feels like to lose.
This is how it feels like to be in politics in our sweet lil' island.
I don't like it one bit... I don't like how there are people out there whose courage failed them and chose to vote for a party that has shown how unfair, dirty and unfeeling it can be. Even with all the odds FOR them (think state media, biased treatment by elections department, "neutral" elections department are working for the government, electoral unfairness etc) the Opposition still put up an impressive fight. Shame on the incumbents. Shame on them.
In the coming years, when we see more prices etc rising in the future, don't blame anyone else but yourself - you gave them the power to continue abusing us... And here's the price we need to pay.

Election Fever
It's election fever in Singapore! For once, a vast majority of Singaporeans can vote. 82 out of 87 seats are being contested - the most number of seats contested ever since PAP came into power half a century ago. It has been an exciting week so far and GE is dominating our conversations for the most part. Opposition rallies are received warmly by the public... Will the results be different?
In 1988, Mr Low Thia Khang of WP won Hougang over with his heart and wit and held it ever since.
In 2011, Mr Low Thia Khang and WP team will contest Aljunied GRC.
Let this year mark another long overdue great turn for Singapore's democratic landscape.
