A few days ago, a friend of mine remarks, I heard you're attached? So who's the lucky girl? I pause tentatively, smile sheepishly and say, Guy. And I have somehow surprised him with that answer.
Perhaps it is because it was the first time I said something so knowingly.
btw, Jonathan Leong IS the Singapore Idol. I dont understand why people are still bothering to vote for the rest, when theyre obviously gonna be booted out in the end XD oooh, imma BITCH.

Lost and Delirious
Pauline: Lesbian? Lesbian? Are you fucking kidding me, you think im a lesbian?
Mary: You're a girl in love with a girl arent you?
Pauline: No! I'm Pauline in love with Tory, remember? And Tory, she is...she IS in love with me because... she is mine and i am hers and neither of us are lesbians!
***
This is a scene from Lost and Delirious, these lines really sum it all huh. We are ever-ready to label people who are different from the conventional type, but they dont see it. They dont understand why society draws such stark boundaries over issues incomprehensible.
I know I've always had the extremist, anti-gays should burn away stance but i only do that because there are people out there taking the same extremist stand; only in reverse opinion and it really irks me that there can be such immature and simplistic people around. In truth, I do see the "wrong" in homosexuality. Males and females complete each other, sexually, physically, emotionally and so on. I understand the whole "natural order" argument. A girl having sex with another girl? How? It's disgusting(although I beg to differ XD) and they arent able to reproduce effectively anyway.
But these arguments are so weak. They are plain and senseless when you actually deconstruct them. I wont go on about it, but I just want to ask these anti-gays, Have you ever loved someone so much, yet unable to be with him/her either because the love was not returned or because your parents objected or any other external pressure that caused you to lose the only one you ever wanted so badly?
Well, homosexuals face this everyday, in this age, this time. What's more heartbreaking is that it's not because of unrequitted love, but they are denied solely because of society and it's ridiuculous expectations and standards. Why should an outsider, who doesnt know anything about a homosexual love, be allowed to destroy it? Why do we, albeit fully aware of that, not protest nor see any wrong in that?
And you know what, screw all that "natural order" talk. Love is natural enough.
btw, beloved youtube posted King and the Clown! happiness.

Blackened
A seemingly bubbly, happy and upbeat 19 year old girl had been visiting a suicide forum which believed that "people had a right to end their own lives". 3 months later, she committed suicide. Imagine the outrage the girl's parents must have felt when they found out that there were a buncha unidentified people telling their daughter suicide was ok. They were more than irate, they placed full blame on the forum for their daughter's suicide.
I dont agree.
I believe that people have a right to choose what they want in life and how they wanted to live it. The right to die is similar. To impose on others a strict code of "morals" would be contradicting the basis for rights. Do I sound cruel? Well, I do assume that the individual is able to analyse his/her situation and has seeked all avenues of help available to him/her before deciding on death. Apparently the girl in this story did. She sent a farewell email to her family and her close friends. She apologised. She said she couldnt take life anymore, and that she had been contemplating suicide for a very long time.
"I am bored with life. It would be best if I just go away."
I think the real problem here is that the parents completely blame the site. How can that be? Why didnt they step back and think about why their daughter approached the website instead of them? Why didnt they realise that their daughter was depressed? Why didnt they try harder to spend time with their daughter, to let her know that life is still worth living?
Dont confuse what I'm saying as support for suicide because it is always painful, especially for your loved ones and it is a sad, sad thing to do. Remember my assumption, that personal choice and individual autonomy is a right that should be conferred onto all able-minded people.
Then again, suicide could be nature's way of asking us to slow down, step back and ask why do some people resort to killing themselves? Why dont people want to live? Why has the world become so bleak?
In simpler terms, nature's just saying, You humans are so fucked up.

If You Cant Fix It, You Gotta Stand It
The shirt seemed heavy until he saw there was another shirt inside it, the sleeves carefully worked down inside Jack's sleeves. It was his own plaid shirt, lost, he'd thought, long ago in some damn laundry, his dirty shirt, the pocket ripped, buttons missing, stolen by Jack and hidden here inside Jack's own shirt, the pair like two skins, one inside the other, two in one. He pressed his face into the fabric and breathed in slowly through his mouth and nose, hoping for the faintest smoke and mountain sage and salty sweet stink of Jack but there was no real scent, only the heartbreaking memory of it, the imagined power of Brokeback Mountain of which nothing was left but what he held in his hands.
Nothing ended, nothing resolved, because nothing begun.

Pirates of the Whatever
Movies galore! Since the end of exams, I've been catching lots of movies like The King and the Clown, Road to Guantanamo, Just My Luck, Thank You for Smoking and most recently, Pirates of the Carribean. See? I dont indulge in piracy all the time ok..
Pirates was fantastic. Despite unfavourable reviews by (stupid) newspapers and magazines, I still feel that it was a great watch. For one, there is talented Depp and his satirical and queer self, his hilarious streak, his oozing sex appeal and the brilliant dynamism between Jack Sparrow and various baddies. Time said that Pirates 2 wasnt so good because the special effects were too overwhelming, and that even Depp couldnt save the show. I regret to have to disagree, vehemently, I might add, with my favourite magazine of all time. Of course Depp saved the show! How can anything override his raw, exquisite talent and all the attention he commands everytime he is on screen?
And as usual, I am a sucker for anyone who acts with their eyes.
Thank You for Smoking was, on the other hand, a tad disappointing. I was expecting really witty and intelligent, mind-boggling arguments FOR smoking but I left the cinema with nothing even close to that. But of course there still is something useful to take away; the deception of argument. I realise that, the only time the guy could keep his point was when opponents of smoking proposed arguments against smoking, of which he very swiftly, using wit and sarcasm, destroyed. It's all very simple. All you have to do is prove that others are wrong, and it will automatically make you correct, even if you did not explicitly state arguments for your stand.
It's pretty stupid when you think about it closely, but the reality is that. People forget that proving the alternative view as obselete or incorrect doesnt neccessarily mean yours is right. How clouded the human mind is.
Well, whatever. Sometimes being clouded is better than seeing everything as it really is, even if it means deceiving yourself and others.
