Why do you always keep me waiting, now I'm falling for you.
Re-watched the final season of The L Word, really great. I still feel weird seeing Jenny and Shane make out, but that one episode that ended with both of them - and this great song by Sharleen Spiteri - kissing in the revamped Planet was especially heartwarming. Jenny asks Shane if it's okay to lie to their friends and not let them know about their new relationship, and Shane replies, "I don't care. I really don't... Because this is just between you and me." And Jenny completely melts in Shane's arms. Everyone else sees this embrace and start to laugh and cheer. Such a happy ending to that episode... Wish that the season could have ended on a happier note though...
Oh well~ Apparently there's gonna be a spin-off called The Farm, although Showtime kinda shelved it for now I think... Hmmm....
Right, anyways I should be off. It's 415am and I've a class in like, 5hours time. And off to Toronto I go for the weekend! =)

Don't Be Afraid of What's Inside
Adam Lambert says, Don't be afraid of what's inside and anytime anybody says you're not allowed, just remember you're not alone. This must be why we study about queering pop culture... Although sometimes (or maybe most of the time) homosexuality themes are exploited to make a quick buck, to get higher viewership or more publicity, having out artistes that make good music and films mean a lot to the hundreds of thousands out there - they may not necessarily be the most liberating acts, but they are certainly empowering and inspiring, even in the littlest of ways that eventually makes a difference in one, two, three, sometimes more, peoples' lives - and that makes the aftermath a bit more bearable.
You feel the weight
Of lies and contradictions that you live with every day
It's not too late
Think of what could be if you rewrite the role you play
Take a step before you leap
Into the colours that you seek
Wanna scream out
No more hiding
Don't be afraid of what's inside
Anytime anybody pulls you down
Anytime anybody says you're not allowed
Just remember you are not alone

Just The Way It Is
What happens to the environment when the economy collapses?
The environment flourishes.
What happens to the economy when the environment is destroyed?
The economy will disappear as well.
That tells you, which is more important; the economy or the environment?

Cereus Blooms At Night
When I think my life sucks, I just have to read Cereus Blooms At Night and I know I'm not the most fucked up person. In Cereus, there's a lady who has had a hell of a traumatic childhood. First, she realised her mom and her female friend were developing feelings for each other - and she saw it through her own child eyes - and she saw her dad see her mom and the friend in that intimate way. Then her mom and lover eloped, leaving her and her sister behind with their dad who was obviously completely depressed and mad. Blinded by his loneliness and rage, he proceeds to rape his two daughters. Our main heroine then always sacrifices herself and protects her sister, so she's the one getting raped by the father all the time. To top it off, they're Indians, and so suffer lots of discrimination by the "superior" whites. Then her sister runs away at the age of 14, but our heroine stays because she is ridden with guilt of her mother's, and now sister's, abandonment of her father. Of course she is still sexually and physically (and hence mentally) abused by her demon of a father. Then some hope appears for her soon - she finds love in one of her male childhood friends - who's madly in love with her too. They start a romantic affair but her father soon finds out and he is anything but pleased because he felt betrayal again. He then abuses and rapes her violently. Then one day, her lover looked for her at home but her father attacked him. This hit a raw nerve with our heroine and she beat her father up to protect her lover. Unfortunately being the coward he was, he got frightened when he saw his girl in such a violent and disheveled state and runs away from the house. She breaks down completely because in the end, everyone she loved - her mom and lesbian lover, her sister and the man she loved - all ran away from her. In the end she was still trapped by her father's hatred. Driven to insanity, she throws her unconscious father in the basement room and locks him up, forever. He starves to death. She becomes crazy and is all alone.
Now wasn't that intense?
I love such intense shit... =)) Thanks to gender studies for introducing this book to me. I did a book review on it a few days ago.
On a sidenote, I was supposed to update my blog everyday or at least once a week so I could remember my exchange experience but I guess I was too lazy.... Not that much things to say anyways. But I am enjoying myself so far... :) Yeah. Life is pretty awesome, I guess. St patrick's day was today... Basically an excuse for Canadians to drink themselves to a stupor and be even more retarded. Haha, but it was fun.
I've class tomorrow morning.. I should get going. It's 4am.
