Internship... it's a rather hazy picture. The person whom I genuinely enjoying hangout out with and enjoy working with is leaving. I dont even want to imagine or think about how the next 2 months will be without her. She's been such a joy to work with; she acts fast, she takes initiative, she isnt fussy, she's a practical, pragmatic and intelligent worker, she's funny, she's friendly and she's really nice to just about EVERYONE. She's such a gem. I hope she knows it... I complimented her before, but knowing how humble she can be, she probably thought I was just joking...
This week I have been TOO lazy. Took 2days of off this week =X Haha, terrible huh? Becoming like my sister! She's like, perpetually on off too! Well, I have about 10++ hours left of time off... :) So I can take another day off... But probably not anytime soon. Since we dont really have any more weekend roadshows (and I can't go for the 28th June roadshow since I have my other animal event thingy that clashes)
Anyway, if you ask me, I'd say that it's been a pleasant experience so far... But perhaps that's only because I am working where I am. I am fortunate that my boss isn't the kind of typical crazily and always unreasonable-typa boss (bosses HAVE to be somewhat hellish, but I guess Lady Luck didnt pass me by this time) but there's just something missing... especially with the other girl gone...? Something sad really missing. It's like me working in my other CCA. I mean, I like what I do (but then again, in BE I LOVE what I do sooo much more than this internship) Oh well, there is some kinda parallel I suppose. Yah, so it's like me in BE.... There is just something nice and warm and fuzzy that's missing...but in PAW, on the other hand, I feel really complete and whole. It's the best :)
Today I was reading last week's Economist and Time (that have sadly been neglected by Yours Truly due to the GRFW Carnival last weekend) and they ran stories on Animal Welfare and Animal Testing. Apparently in Europe they're passing this law to tighten measures to protect animal welfare when it comes to animal testing in labs. They're gonna allow only certain kinds of animals to be tested on, scientists must share information regarding experiments so that failed ones arent repeated over and over again as that leads to a bigger loss and 'wastage' of animal lives in vain. It's heartwarming to know that at least SOME country recognises that animal testing isnt exactly the most noble and awesome way to improve human welfare. I dont know about others, but I certainly dont feel more beautiful knowing that millions of innocent animals had to die just so I could get fairer and less wrinkly skin.
Whenever I see women with make-up, all I can see is the blood stained on their faces, animal's lives cruelly dangling on their fake mascara-laden eyelashes and that tiny bit of the animal's weak, final breath clinging onto their plastic lips; cracking, decaying.
